Earlier this year the Black Crowes recorded two new studio projects in Levon Helm’s fabled Woodstock barn: Before the Frost... and …Until the Freeze. Both projects were taped in front of a studio audience and will be released this September. In addition, Helm and his guitarist Larry Campbell

 jammed with the members of the Crowes while in the studio (it is unknown whether either of those collaborations made the final cut). Last week, The Black Crowes and the Levon Helm Band also shared the stage at both Pittsburgh, PA’s Station Square and Kettering, OH’s Fraze Pavilion. On both nights, Chris and Rich Robinson emerged at the end of Helm’s set to sing The Band classic “The Weight” with the drummer.

Helm will appear at Bridgeport, CT’s Gathering of the Vibes this Saturday, while the Black Crowes are slated to appear at Tulsa, OK’s Dfest Music Festival this Friday. The two groups will share the stage at Boston’s Bank of America Pavilion on August 27.
